About us

matthew 18:20

"For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them."

Evangel Church’s roots run deep in Southern Wake County. The church was birthed through a revival in the 1940s, led by Rev. Oral Roberts and Rev. George Stephenson, and has grown with a heart to serve God and minister to the community. Sunday worship provides insight into God’s Word to nourish your soul and guide you in your daily life. Below is the foundation on which Evangel Church exists and the Biblical scriptures that support each belief.

We Believe…

God
We believe there is one living and true God, everlasting, of infinite power, wisdom and goodness; Maker and Preserver of all things, both visible and invisible. And in the unity of this Godhead, there are three Persons of one substance of eternal being, and equal in holiness,
justice, wisdom, power, and dignity; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. (Matthew 3:16, 17; 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 John 5:7).

Jesus Christ
We believe that the Son, who is of one substance with the Father, took man’s nature in the womb of the blessed virgin.(Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 2:26-35). He was sinless, but offered himself as a sacrifice for our sins. He actually suffered, was crucified, dead, and buried, to reconcile the Father to us, and to make atonement, not only for our actual guilt, but also for original sin. (Romans 3:25; 1 John 3:5-10; Ephesians 2:1-10). We believe that Christ did truly rise again from the dead, and ascended into heaven and there sits until He shall return to judge all men at the last day. (Luke 24:1-7; Romans 1:4; 1 Corinthians 15:12-19).

Holy Ghost
We believe the Holy Ghost, proceeding from the Father and the Son, is of one substance, majesty and glory with the Father and the Son, very and eternal God. (John 14:16, 17, 26; 15:26; 16:7-11, 13-15).

The Bible
We believe in the verbal and absolute inspiration of the Holy Scriptures, known as the Bible, composed of sixty-six books and divided into two sections, Old and New Testaments. We believe the Bible is the Word of God, the full and complete revelation of the plan and history of redemption. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; John 10:35).

Eternal Life
We believe that eternal life with God in heaven is a portion of the reward of the finally righteous; and that everlasting banishment from the presence of the Lord and unending torture in hell are the wages of the
persistently wicked (Matthew 25:46; Psalm 9:17; Revelation 21:7, 8).
